Devaluation of women's work

By Be Nguyen

Why can't Hillary Clinton be a President? It  may be a popular question at this time in US to lots of people.
Why can’t women be a President? Why are men better be a President?Men and women were born to be treated equally. However, women is always a less value gender compared to men. Most of people believe that women can’t be a President. There is no way that women could handle with the war and many other challenging duties. There are many pro and con answers. However, there are lots of people think that women should know their position and stop interfering in men's business. It will make a difference if a woman becomes president, and it is going to be a worse difference because that's just not her assignment. Women are always devalued compared to men even though they should be treated equally. There are many women-related issues that receive much attention from society, such as women’s work compensation devaluation, women’s roles in the family, and women’s right in society. The woman’s work devaluation is one of the most common issue. The third world of women are devalued by both the society and Western assumptions. The common belief is that women are responsible for the housework such as house cleaning, laundry, cooking, and child rearing, while the man works to provide financial support for the family. The women in the first world are devalued not only at home, but at the workplaces as well. Women get pay less than man even though they work at the same jobs, same positions. Women cannot be in a high position because they think men are more suitable at being a leader. No matter what each is responsible for, they still need to support one another to build a happy home and to educate their kids well. Nevertheless, women should be treated equally as man so that they would have more opportunities to express themselves and their own potential. Women’s work devaluation are reflected in different magazines, books and even cartoons. One example is a cartoon published by PennState University addresses the discourse unequal of sharing the houseworkbetween the husband and wife.
The author points out that the woman is responsible for all the unpaid housework. On the other hand, the husband is not helping  but relaxing only. It is unfair for the women. Why does she have to do all these chores without help of the husband? Why is she the only one who responsible for it? Is it because of the nature or society?
This discourse is also addressed by Sheryl Sandberg in the article “Madam C.E.O, get me a coffee.”  In this articles, the author shows how he feels toward to women. They do lots of office works, but they do not get pay as what they do. Comparing to men, women always have less opportunities at workplaces even though they are able to take care of things. They get devalued worse than man if both of them reject helping co-workers?
Why are women being treated that way?  Is there any fairness between women and men? They could be a leader.  They could be doing what men can do. Why don't give them a chance to show them off or improve themselves?
