"Social Media Takeover" ~ Elgarch
Everyday 1 in 6 women are victims of domestic abuse everyday, 15% of victims are men of domestic abuse. more than 75% of domestic abuse victims stay and continue life with their abuser. information like this has been brought up by blogs, post, tweets, links, pins by real life survivors. Thanks to social media people can share their experience and help others to show that there are other options for refuge and safety. Is it hard to believe that without the use of internet and a way to communicate with others hundreds of thousands away to inform and educate others on life where they are. It has gone to the level that multimillion dollar corporations are now putting their out and observing the culture reference modern day users are talking about and are interested in. Know corporation. Nowadays the most effective advertisements are 'targeted advertisements' these are the ads that will get people talking that will get them to stop in their tracks and make them either think, laugh, realize the real world. The goal for corporations by the end of the day is to have their products or messaged appreciated and known. The Salvation Army put out an advertisement relating to huge social media debate circulating around 'the dress' showing a woman wearing a dress that is white and gold covered with bruises and marks of being attacked with the caption "why is it so hard to see black and blue". The fact that a corporation targeted to help soldiers in combat step in and voice their opinion on domestic abuse and have brought it down to make it relatable to a wider audience getting more and more people to be aware of what they should be weary to and how big of an issue it is. Social media is a huge mixing bowl of information that gets generations before us questioning what we do sending all our time on it. We all heard the whole "this generation is going down in flames" or "you would not survive living in my time" and it is true millennials do not know what life is like generations ago, even though our parents think everyone is on their phone talking nonsense but in reality there is so much information that is being processed on a bus ride, ten minute walk, or even a rest in the bathroom. News, information ranging from world stopping to pop culture are all effective and showing how wide and diverse the world around everyone is. Thanks to social media news on real world issues are going around, and educating others on such a large scale and on such a faster pace that the cure for cancer can be posted and twenty minutes late a tweet about it has over a million retweets. News on Kylie Jenners lips got over two million views and servers crashing because information was being spread so fast. imagine how many people would be affected if more corporations bring up issues and information on a social media scale viewing it in the eyes of the consumer and what others are seeing the world as it is to what it could be. When you think about it we are using social media right now posting this for the whole world to see.
