Economic Inequality and Politicians

Well it seems that President Barack Obama is having a great time with his “pals”. Hmmm… It actually seems that everyone in this photo are all sharing a good laugh. Wow, even George Bush is getting along with everyone around him. Just look at Mrs. Hillary Clinton go at it! But what could they be possibly be laughing at? Oh! I think the text “AND THEN WE TOLD THEM THAT THE WEALTH WOULD ‘TRICKLE DOWN’!” is a hint of what they might be gagging about!
This image shown here contributes to my discourse of how politicians are involved with economic inequality. The author of this collage was mostly trying to emphasize that our government is doing nothing to stop economic inequality from progressing. It is shown here that they do not care about the well being of their citizens as much as they say they do during their speeches. This image like any other images alike cause great amount of anger in some people. Such anger can be directed in ways that cause harm and destruction. Examples are strikes and violent riots people organize in order to grab the government’s attention and to somehow force them to stop this economic inequality nonsense.
When will the unemployment problem be diminished? How much further can the wealth gap between the rich and poor get? Most importantly, what is the government doing to solve these issues?
These are just a few questions many people in the United States ask themselves each and every day. There is economic inequality all over the country and it seems that the government is not helping in any matter. It has been said that the one percent (America’s richest people) control the majority of the country’s economy. I also pointed this out in my research paper of how McDonald’s CEO decided to pay their employees low wages so that they would gain even greater amounts of profit. I also mentioned that some politicians say they shall be stopped but in reality they are not doing the best they can to change things. One reason may be because they gain lots of sponsorships for their campaigns from the wealthiest rather than the general people. Think about it. If my parents were basically paying for my living, personal and school expenses, I would not do anything that may affect them in any sort of way.
Sadly, the truth is that there is already high unemployment and instead of decreasing, it keeps increasing. I cannot come up with any concrete solutions because I am not an expert in any sort of way about these kinds of matter. Though I can only hope for the best that the government will finally stop caring about their income and consider everyone else. Maybe one day we will see a collage of everyone in the United States having a good time while sharing a laugh about a good living and less taxes we all share. I can imagine the text in bold saying, “BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE”.
