The Failing US Education Sysytem

Through out the semester I've been visiting the topic of U.S education, mostly how broken the system is. I've gone over this topic in the past in high school but mostly just talking about standardized testing. I expanded this semester on the topic also throwing in standardized testing in their but also focusing on the bigger picture; which is the money hungry broken system we call the U.S education system.

Our education system is so far behind its not something to take lightly, the system is built around testing. That in mind means the students don't learn properly they are just crammed with info for the test and how to pass the test. Once the test is done with info gets thrown out. Not to mention these are HIGH STAKE tests, Meaning there are grave consequences for not passing that includes the teacher. Student who don't pass either get held back or go into remedial classes, which isn't fair at all because one test that is structured poorly shouldn't determine that. Teachers should be the judge based on whether the teacher believes the student is ready. Now on to the teachers, their pay is based off their students success rate. Also the schools get funded based on test scores, which brings me to another issue; poor communities tend to score less so they get funded less and therefore no improvement will ever be made and only can get worse 

Overall this discourse has really helped me understand the issue and how bad this system needs an overhaul. Teachers are suffering as much as students and something should be done. It starts when everyone sees this as an issue and acts on it.
