Double Standards

Although double standards is common in the world, we tend to appreciate certain genders when they are doing a good job, but why is it hard to admit that both genders can be whoever they want and still receive the same reward? The media tends to focus on the male, for their credibility as “powerful” and “man in the house”, not so much towards the women. Regardless, women are not as appreciative towards their own goals due to the fact they are criticized for their work that have been achieved, unlike men are always acknowledged by every goal in their life. In the case of the video selected labeled “ Labels against women” by Pantene from the Philippines published on November 2013, the main claim is labeling an individual because of their gender, and what is seen through a person’s perspective as well as what society declares what each gender should be. In the video expresses how each women and men go through the same daily routines but displays the same exact action but for each gender has different adjectives. Double standards impacts social, personal, and work field view on an individual by their gender, is effective that causes women to have insecurities when it comes to their confidence in their role in each one of the examples.
In the Pantene commercial from the Philippines, showed a clever sense of displaying their hair products, a girl can be whoever they want to be as long as you expressed it with confidence. Women are being judge constantly if they stay longer then should at work she wouldn't be consider a “great mom” due to the fact of society; we have this imagination that all men are powerful and rank in life. This perceptive of how gender is seen throughout people’s eyes is described in this video as showing viewers women can be as powerful as men. In the video, all the words blend in with each scene which makes it easier to understand what Pantene main message is being sexes, should not be crossed with how a person views their personal hygiene.
An article published on the Huff post Women on March 7, 2014 titled “5 Things Women are Judged more Harshly for than Men” goes in detail on the most common topics that are judged towards women than men. The article gives examples of the 5 common topics which is sated as “Having too many sexual partners”, “Having a messy home”, “being overweight”, “being blunt or assertive”, and “not having children.” The main argument of the article contains the view of women when compared to men, how each factor contributes to having low self- esteem.
Even though, the video gives out a great point of view how women feel about double standards. There are many stories regarding double standards, how it evolve throughout time how it changes regarding the gender of how much the pay would turn out to be. The stories continue of double standard. Now most commercials are  giving out women points of view of double standards. Double standards only would change if each person thought differently about each gender.
